Order Preview & Proofing: Reviewing Your Design Before Production

How to preview and proof your Pro Lab design before ordering — in-editor preview, thumbnail view, what to check, and common mistakes to avoid.

Before finalising your order, Pro Lab provides multiple ways to preview and proof your design to ensure perfection. Since custom-made products cannot be modified once production begins, careful proofing is critical.

Preview options available

1. In-editor preview (recommended)

  • Click the "Preview" button in the editor toolbar
  • Full-screen page-by-page view
  • Navigate with arrow keys or page thumbnails
  • Zoom in to check photo quality and text
  • See exactly how the printed book will look
  • Return to editing if changes are needed

2. Thumbnail page view

  • The bottom of the editor shows all pages as thumbnails
  • Quick overview of the entire book flow
  • Spot layout inconsistencies easily
  • Rearrange pages with drag-and-drop

What to check during proofing

Check Item
What to Look For
Common Mistakes
Photo quality
No blurry/low-resolution warnings, clear faces
Ignoring yellow/red quality warnings
Text accuracy
Correct spelling, names, dates, captions
Typos in names, wrong dates/locations
Photo orientation
All photos right-side up, properly rotated
Upside down or sideways photos
Page order
Logical flow, chronological story
Pages out of sequence, random order
Cover design
Title correct, main photo well-positioned
Faces cut off on cover, title errors
Photo cropping
Important elements visible, no critical cut-offs
Faces/subjects partially cropped out
Text placement
Text readable, not over faces, good contrast
Text on busy backgrounds, poor readability
Page count
Correct number of pages as ordered
Forgetting pages are ordered in pairs

Critical reminder

⚠️ Once your order enters production, changes cannot be made. Always thoroughly review before ordering. Take your time — it's your last chance to catch errors.

Pro tips for catching errors

  • Step away and come back the next day with fresh eyes before ordering
  • Show the preview to family — a second pair of eyes catches what you miss
  • Use the zoom feature on every page to check photo sharpness
  • Read every caption out loud to catch typos
  • Heed every quality warning (yellow = caution, red = will print poorly)
