Pro Lab's photo prints and layflat albums are produced on premium Fujifilm Crystal Archive silver halide photo paper. Photo books use high-quality photographic paper stock, canvas prints use archival canvas, and giclée prints use fine art paper — each medium has its own surface characteristics. Across all products, the most important finish choice you'll make is between Glossy and Matte (Lustre).
The two main finishes
- Glossy — high shine, vivid colours, deep contrasts. Best for portraits, vibrant landscapes, and products meant to be displayed in good lighting.
- Matte / Lustre — soft, low-reflection finish. Best for black-and-white photography, fine art, documentary, and situations with mixed or harsh lighting.

Glossy vs Matte — a quick guide
- Glossy works best for: family portraits, wedding photos, travel photography, vivid colour images, gifting products.
- Matte/Lustre works best for: fine art photography, black-and-white images, documentary work, prints displayed under bright or direct light (reduces glare).
- Matte surfaces show fingerprints less than glossy — a practical advantage for wall art and prints that are frequently handled.
💡 If you're unsure, glossy is the most popular choice for photo books and albums. For wall art and fine art photography, matte is generally preferred by professional photographers.

For photo prints, photo books, and layflat albums, you can select your preferred finish — glossy or matte — during the ordering process on prolab.in. Both finishes are available for these products. For other products such as canvas, acrylic, and giclée, the surface type is inherent to the medium and is described on each product page.
